Fire destroys two county owned trucks

Local News

HIDALGO, Texas – The Hidalgo County Fire Marshal’s Office continues investigating the burning of two county owned 18 wheeler trucks.

What sounded like an explosion to residents was actually the sound of tires popping. The incident happened on 7 Mile Line and Iowa Road near Mission. Investigators say both trucks were parked when one engulfed in flames later spreading to the second truck.

John Franz, Hidalgo County Fire Marshal Investigator, “This was not a warehouse explosion. At no time was anyone’s life in immediate danger. Obviously, you have a fire it is a dangerous situation, but no one’s life was threatened in that immediate area.”

At this time, investigators do not believe arson played a role.
