#TamaulipasAhora. It is Congressman Filemon Vela’s latest attempt to create a more peaceful world.
The Washington politician is using social media to get his message of peace, heard.
Not just to sister cities Brownsville and Matamoros but to Washington, D.C.
The congressman said as a child he visited Matamoros every weekend.
He wants Tamaulipas to be the same, safe place he visited 20 years ago.
“And together with our federal and state partners on the other side of the border we are working together to get to a point where we can enjoy our border culture on both sides of the border.” Says Vela.
Vela and Congressman Vicente Gonzalez proudly displayed a paper with the hash tag written on it.
It read: I want peace in Tamaulipas because _______. That’s where you come in. You can fill in the blank and participate in the social media project.
Again, the hashtag is #tamaulipasahora.
