A father and son are facing several charges following a morning shooting last Monday in Alamo.
Noel Javier Gonzalez Sr. faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated robbery while his son, Noel Xavier Gonzalez Jr. faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of robbery and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Authorities said they were called out to a home on South Alamo Road in reference to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to a witness statement, the witness saw two men being assaulted by two other men with handguns. The witness added that the handgun was used as a tool to assault the victims.
Police said during the assault a suspect took a victim’s necklace by force and ran away.
The report stated that as the suspects, later identified as Noel Javier Gonzalez Sr. and Noel Xavier Gonzalez Jr., fled on foot, they fired two gunshots near the home. Police later located a bullet casing and one live round at the scene. After interviews with witnesses, police identified the men.
Both men were arrested by the Alamo Major Crimes Unit on Tuesday. Bond for Noel Javier Gonzalez Sr. was set at $220,000 and bond for his son was set at $245,000. Both men are behind bars at the Hidalgo County Jail.
