Days after 29-year-old Jaxmany Montes died during a shooting at the Jaguars strip club in Edinburg, friends and family say they’re reeling from the loss.

“We miss him. His kids miss him,” said Jaxmany’s sister, 34-year-old Sorais De Hoyos. “And my mom is also hurting — more than anybody.”

At about 4:40 a.m. Sunday, several men started fighting at Jaguars, the all-nude strip club on State Highway 107, according to information provided by the Edinburg Police Department.

Security ejected several men from the building. Two men returned with a gun and started shooting.

Jaxmany Jazan Montes, 29, of McAllen died. Six other men were injured, according to the police department.

With investigators still searching for the shooters, the Montes family they’re primarily concerned with finding peace.

“We don’t want to feel hate towards nobody,” De Hoyos said. “Like we said, he was at the wrong place at the wrong time and we want for God and the law to take care of it.”

“He was taken from us and we don’t want to know why,” said Jaxmany’s younger sister, 25-year-old Karla Allred. “Because in reality we know that he’s going to unite us more than ever. We were already close; we’re just going to get closer.”

Jaxmany worked with the RGV Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic in McAllen.

“The clinic is mourning. We lose someone very important to our family and we sympathize with the Montes family,” said Victoria Villanueva, who worked with Jaxmany.

Jaxmany is survived by his wife, two children, eight brothers and sisters, and his mother.
