Fajita bandit surrenders to police

Local News

A woman accused of walking out of a local supermarket with an estimated 15 pounds of fajitas and ribs has finally been arrested.

Last month, Weslaco Police turned to Action 4 News after the fajita bandit was caught on tape stealing the large amount of meat from the La Michoacana Meat Market long Expressway 83 in Weslaco.

Several viewers called in tips.

On Tuesday, the suspected fajita bandit, Brenda Lee Villarreal, walked into the Weslaco Police Department and turned herself in.

Her suspected accomplice, Jose Roel Gonzalez, is still on the run.

Police said 27-year-old Villarreal is charged with stealing gas from a gas station and fajitas and ribs.

If you know the whereabouts of Gonzalez, call Weslaco Crime Stoppers at 968-TIPS (968-8477).

If the information leads to an arrest then you are eligible for a cash reward.
