EDINBURG, Texas – Join the students and staff from Edinburg CISD as they welcome partners from TXU Energy and the Texas Trees Foundation for a special tree ceremony.

TXU Energy is creating an enhanced outdoor learning environment and helping boost Edinburg CISD’s tree canopy and sustainability efforts with a donation of 20 live oak trees to five of the district’s elementary schools, which include Eisenhower ES, Kennedy ES, Magee ES, Truman ES and Villarreal ES.

“We are grateful for the generosity from TXU Energy and its commitment to making a difference for our children and our school community,” ECISD Superintendent Dr. René Gutiérrez said. “For more than a century, we have been planting trees at Edinburg CISD that continue to grow to this day. We hope that these new oak trees will thrive for several years to come.”

The donation will take place during a ceremony, hosted in partnership with the Texas Trees Foundation, and will include remarks from Edinburg CISD Superintendent Dr. René Gutiérrez about the importance of planting trees across area school campuses.
