An employee for the city of La Joya has been disciplined after picking up, hauling a political sign using a city truck on Friday afternoon.

According to a post by the city, “It was discovered that a city employee acted wrongfully in picking up, hauling a political sign using a city truck. These actions by any employee will not be tolerated. The employee who committed this violation has been reprimanded.”

Bazan tells CBS 4, the sign was a slate sign, about the size of a door, showing Fito Salinas, Daniel Flores, Jr. and Dalia Arriaga.

As we’ve reported, the La Joya mayor race will be heading to a runoff, with Election Day being on December 10 and early voting beginning on Monday. That race will be between Fito Salinas and Isidro Casanova.

Bazan added that they found out about the incident “in house” as there were pictures posted on social media.
