Suspect of aggravated robbery in Elsa arrested

ELSA, Texas (KVEO) — Authorities have arrested a suspect of an aggravated robbery that took place in Elsa.

According to police, Luis Castillo was arrested by the Edcouch Police Department on unrelated incident.

A release states Castillo was arraigned and charged for aggravated robbery. His bond was set at $200,000.

The department said on Wednesday, June 3 at about 3:45 a.m. Elsa Police officers were dispatched to the Stripes convenience store located at 911 West Highway 107 in Elsa in reference to an Aggravated Robbery.

The subject, captured on the store’s surveillance camera, is described a Hispanic male, approximately 5’11”, wearing a red polo shirt, black Nike cap, blue jeans, black tennis shoes and tattoos on both forearms.

Police said he entered the store, claiming to have a gun and demanded the money from the register. The suspect then displayed a screwdriver, but fled the area when a customer entered the store.
