EDINBURG – The City of Edinburg was awarded a $55,829.55 federal grant to enhance operations and safety for the fire department in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
U.S. Senator John Cornyn announced the funding was appropriated by the CARES Act, which he supported in March. The grant comes through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG). It which aims to strengthen the nation’s overall level of preparedness and ability to respond to fire and related hazards.
This grant will be used for personal protective equipment (PPE) and related supplies.
