EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man involved in a fatal crash was arraigned on Sunday.

Juan Pablo Torres, 27, was charged with intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to a release from the Edinburg Police Department.

Torres is held at a $1.5 million bond.

On Saturday at 2:09 a.m. authorities responded to the intersection of Trenton Road and Closner Boulevard in reference to a major crash.

At the scene, officers saw a white Chevrolet Silverado and a white BMW. During the investigation, it was revealed that the driver of the Silverado ran a red light and hit the BMW.

A man and woman were inside the BMW. Both were taken to a Doctors Hospital at Renaissance. The driver, Adrienne Ann Garza, 26, was pronounced dead. 

According to police, the Chevrolet was driven by Torres. 

Authorities said, Torres was arrested and suspected of driving while intoxicated. Police were able to obtain a blood specimen through a search warrant. 

This is an ongoing investigation.
