Edinburg Man Goes Before Judge Relating to Double Homicide

47-year-old Alvaro Medrano Garcia, the husband of one of two victims found dead last night, was arraigned in Hidalgo County.  

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra spoke about the circumstances surrounding the two deaths. A double homicide that shocked even seasoned deputies because of the nature of the crime.

“They had been separated for about two weeks and she came back to the residence with her mother in law to retrieve some of her children. At that point there was a dispute, Mr. Medrano retrieve a hand gun from a vehicle, shot his wife and mother in law. Through the course of the investigation it was learned that Medrano had streamed his confession on Facebook Live while he was walking away from the crime scene. While he was also on the phone with 9-1-1, operators discovered the lifeless bodies of two females inside of a vehicle with gunshot wounds to the head. The females were identified as common law wife 30-year-old Olga Espinosa and his mother in law 52-year-old Irene Espinosa”

Four children in the home were taken to stay with the mother’s family.
