Edinburg clinic offering free COVID-19 tests to frontline workers

Local News

EDINBURG, Texas — An Edinburg clinic is doing its part to make sure first responders get tested for COVID-19.

On Wednesday, Family First Medical Center administered free tests to Edinburg Fire Department employees who needed testing.

Firefighters came in their trucks and lined up at the drive-thru testing site.

Dr. Alison Garza says it’s important to take care of those on the frontlines that are working to keep us safe.

‘We have to have our first responders healthy to be able to respond to what’s coming. To be able to help us in time of emergency,” said Dr. Garza.

On Thursday, the clinic will make free tests available to border patrol agents.

On Friday, they will test county employees.

Dr. Garza also plans to offer free tests to McAllen and Edinburg school districts as well as grocery store employees.
