EDINBURG, Texas — Last week, Edinburg CISD began their new automated storyline.
Students from all across the valley can call in and listen to a new story read by an Edinburg librarian.
Lisa Marie Carrillo, librarian with Edinburg CISD, started the program because she wanted to create a simple way to connect with kids.
“Stories are really great, they are also entertaining, and they are educational, but how can we reach out to those kids that don’t have Internet,” says Carrillo.
A new story is uploaded every day of the week.
Any student from any district can call the automated storyline for free by simply dialing (956) 316-READ (7323).
Carrillo is also encouraging any other districts interested in creating a similar program to contact her with questions.
