Edinburg CISD Holds Spelling Bee

Local News

Organizers of the 29th Annual Spelling Bee in the RGV are starting to know the names of the students that will be in this year’s competition.

Edinburg CISD decided which students will be representing the district in the regional competition.

More than 40 students between 3rd and 8th grade participated in the district’s spelling bee.

The winner of the competition was a 4th grader, who also won it last year.

Isabel Thoppil, 4th Grader, “I’m going to study. I’m going to study and memorize the words so I can prepare for the regionals. It’s a lot harder the second time.”

The Regional Spelling Bee will be at the beginning of March, and the winner of that competition goes to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
