An Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) elementary received a grant for its fitness program.
Lyndon Baines Johnson Elementary School received a $25,000 grant as part of the Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation that began in 2014.
According to the release, the grant will be used to pay for fitness equipment to address the deficit areas where children fail fitness tests and indoor fitness equipment.
Students and staff were present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“On behalf of the Edinburg CISD Board of Trustees, I would like to thank the Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation for awarding us this grant,” said ECISD Board Member Dominga “Minga” Vela in the release. “We are always looking to partner with great people like you.”
Project Fit America also provides support to the school for two years with on-site training with the Physical Education teacher, said the release.
