The city of Edinburg is working hard to become the latest destination city in the Rio Grande Valley.
Some of the biggest attractions are a college football team, an IMAX Theater and the new soccer arena. They’re expected to attract visitors from all parts of the country. Now Edinburg is hoping to attract Mexican investors by opening a new economic development office in Monterrey.
Agustin Garcia, EDC Executive Director says, “I think we’d be well-served by having an office in Monterrey, so they decided to open it up again and start talking about the different things that are taking place in the city of Edinburg, that a lot of these travelers and tourists, as well as business people could benefit from. There’s a lot of real estate along the expressway. There’s a lot of Mexican money here in the United States, here in the Valley. And there’s a lot of Mexican investors that want to invest in the Rio Grande Valley and take advantage of the growth every city in the Valley is experiencing.”
The city of Edinburg also received an AA Credit Rating by the Fitch Ratings of Austin for having a stable economy and a consistent increase in employment levels.
