BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The oldest school in the Rio Grande Valley expands its services to some of the youngest members of the community.
Incarnate Word Academy begins its first 2-year-old program. The school was recently licensed by the state to accept toddlers as young as age 2 for Early Start Education programs in the newly formed De Bely Early Childhood Center.
The school’s president tells Local 23 News that 34 students are already enrolled and will begin classes this week.
Edward Camarillo, “We have curriculums for them. We have a nice playground for the children. We’re excited to take these little ones and make them a part of our family.”
Incarnate Word Academy has served the region since 1853. The new program is named after an important figure in the school’s history.
