Children enrolled in early childhood programs at McAllen ISD will soon have access to better classroom equipment.
This will be possible thanks to a grant worth over $200,000 that was awarded to the district. McAllen ISD was one of 21 districts across Texas that received the grant.
The money will help add computer labs and other learning tools to classrooms in the Rhema’s Learning Center, and the Loving Angels Child Development Center. It will also help bring additional certified teachers to the early childhood programs.
Juan Lira – Early Childhood Strategist for McAllen ISD said, “We just want our kids to be better equipped. Once they come in to Kinder and First grade that they’re already on target with their reading skills and their writing skills, and all their arithmetic skills, and that their social and emotional development is up to par.”
The district expects to have all the new equipment up and running by the fall semester.
