Immigration support groups are keeping a close eye on Congress during the upcoming days.
The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on an immigration policy that would address President Trump’s main priorities.
This week 2 bills were proposed, one was shut down and the other postponed for discussion. A local immigration support group gave News Center 23 their thoughts on the upcoming bills.
Rogelio Nuñez, Casa de Proyecto Libertad says, “I would agree and concur with the valley delegation of congressional leaders. That particular bill, if it includes what they say it does, which is $25 billion for a wall which is ridiculous. The DACA situation is going to be very difficult.”
Some of the main points of the Republican compromise bill include, funding for a border wall, a path to legalization for dreamers, and eliminating visa lottery. A vote is expected next week.
