Dream wedding a reality for teen battling cancer

With the flower girls ready, ring bearer all suited up and family and friends anxiously awaiting Saturday, 19-year-old Jessica Azua was ready for her big entrance.

She walked down the aisle, looking radiant, as she made her way towards her sweetheart 24-year-old Tom Carrasco.

“I feel beautiful, the blushing bride said. I know that in the last interview I said that I was scared about losing my hair and this is my natural hair! So, I’m very happy.”

Azua is battling stage 4 colon cancer.

When she first got the news, the young couple decided to get married.

It was Carrasco TMs testament of his true love for Azua, and his way of showing his bride he’s in it for better or worse.

Their family members couldn TMt have been happier about their marriage.

“He loves her so much, Rosa Garcia, Azua TMs aunt said. As soon as he found out about her illness, right away he said, ~I’m going to marry this girl. TM”

“I knew that she was so in love, added Azua TMs Aunt Mary Jane Almanza. She would talk about him and tell me how much she really loved him a lot. Today is the big day and everyone is just rooting her on because they are so excited for her. She’s so sweet and she deserves it.”

Due to her medical condition, it was thought Azua might not make it to her special day – but she beat those odds.

“I love you and we’re finally here, she said in a message to her new husband.

Valley businesses donated their services and a beautiful wedding dress fit for a princess to make Azua TMs dream wedding a reality.

“I just want to say thank you for opening up your hearts and for donating everything that was donated, Azua said. (We) really appreciate it – Tom and I.”

Azua said her wedding day was the best day of (her) life.”
