An Edinburg judge issued a $3 million bond to Victor Alejandro Godinez, 24.
Godinez received a $1 million bond on each count of attempted capital murder of a Peace Officer, a first degree felony.
Godinez is accused of shooting a Texas DPS Trooper, Moises Sanchez, on Saturday evening in Edinburg.
Godinez remains in DPS custody.

Suspect in custody after DPS Trooper was shot in Edinburg
UPDATE: The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed that a suspect is in custody after a DPS Trooper was shot on Saturday night in Edinburg.
According to the City of Edinburg Facebook page and DPS Twitter page, Victor Alejandro Godinez, 24, of Edinburg, was arrested.
The trooper’s name has not yet been released. However, a tweet from Texas DPS says the state trooper is out of surgery. He is stable but in critical condition.

A DPS trooper was shot by a suspect on Saturday night in Hidalgo County.
DPS has not confirmed the trooper’s condition, saying only the trooper was in surgery.
DPS says the shooting happened around 8:45 p.m., after the trooper approached a crash near 10th Street and Freddy Gonzalez where a driver fled the scene.
The trooper located the suspect near the 1500 block of South Maltese Street and was shot.
DPS believes the suspect is still in the area and asked the public to stay away.
DPS has not released the name of the trooper or the suspect.
