The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal one vehicle crash west of La Feria.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., a tan Toyota Camry veered off the side of Farm-to-Market Road 2556 and into the Arroyo Colorado, according to information provided by Lt. Johnny Hernandez, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Investigators believe the driver lost control of the car, and spun around once before falling into the Arroyo Colorado, according to authorities.
The Weslaco Dive Team searched the Arroyo Colorado and recovered the body of 19-year-old Kayla Linette Ruelas of Santa Maria, according to authorities.
Ruelas was driving at the time of the crash and was the sole passenger of the car, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the ongoing investigation.
