Mission police confirm officer has died following shooting

UPDATE: Lt. Jody Tittle with the Mission Police Department has confirmed that the officer involved in a shooting in Mission has died. 

CBS 4 has also confirmed that the suspect involved in the shooting is in custody, according to Mission Police Public Information Officer Art Flores. 

The identity of the officer has not yet been released. 

No details have been released as to what led up to the shooting. 

A press conference is expected to be held on Friday morning.

Police investigating an officer involved shooting happening now in Mission.

Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed an officer is down.

Lt. Jody Tittle, Assistant Chief of Police with the Mission Police Department said the officer is in critical condition.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Stewart and Business 83. 

The City of Mission has already taken to social media to report that an officer was shot. 

The officer’s name has not yet been released.
