Store shelves across the country are completely out of face mask that helps decrease the spread of COVID-19.

Walking around you’ll see a lot of people wearing facemasks. Just today president trump announces he’s finalizing recommendations wearing coverings when leaving your home.

But you can make your own face mask at home.

First, you’ll need to a pair of scissor, a sewing kit and a tape measure and two pieces of cotton fabric.

Measure out 9.5L by 6.5W along the cloth.

Cut four long pieces of cloth to act as straps, secured each place with needles.

Along the perimeter, sewing the two cloths to make a mask.

Make folds on the cloth to help mold to your face.

“Don’t forget the mask on its own is not going to protect you,” Said Dr. Jose Campo Maldonado.

He tells CBS 4 there’s still little information on the effectiveness of homemade mask.

“There’s no good data that using that in the general public is necessarily going to help. What recommended right now for the public is you use a mask if you are facing someone who is sick,” he said.

While scientist research the effectiveness on homemade masks, they all agree that if you are feeling sick stay home.
