The 229th Judicial District Attorney’s Office confirmed Wednesday that the remains of a missing 17 year old last seen in Rio Grande City have been found.

On Saturday, human body remains were discovered in Roma near Humminbird Street. 229th Judicial District Attorney Omar Escobar confirmed Wednesday that those remains belonged to Chayse Olivarez, 17, who was last seen on June 29 in Rio Grande City.

Preliminary reports suggest that Olivarez died as a result of at least one gunshot wound.

Two juveniles and a 17-year-old man remain in custody in connection with Olivarez’s disappearance. Jose Luis Garcia Jr., 17, is being held with no bond on a capital murder charge.

The two juveniles are being detained.

Escobar says the incident is believed to stem from a “deeply personal” motive between the suspects and Olivarez.
