As the new school year approaches, a local dentist wants to remind you to add a dental check up to your child’s back to school to-do list. He says unchecked dental diseases can cause pain and infection. It leads to lack of sleep, missed school days, and lack of concentration.
The doctor tells us what drinks at school should be avoided.
Dr. D. Ray Gifford, “We think often of sodas and we’re like, I’m not giving my kids soda so we must be okay. But we forget that chocolate milk also is loaded with natural sugars as well as juices from fruits that we can be drinking.”
Dr. Gifford also says parents can prevent tooth decay by dividing sugar intake between meal times. He suggests children rinse their mouth with water if they aren’t able to brush their teeth right away.
