Local News

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The city of Brownsville is continuing their tradition and commitment to health with another Cyclobia event. In partnership with the University of Texas School of Public Health, Su Clinica and the UT System Population Health will host the “Brownsville is Glowing with History Cyclobia” on Friday, May 4 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Washington and Linear Park.

Art Rodriguez, Public Health Director, “We’ve been doing it because it goes back to population health. We are learning that by increasing the levels of activity has a direct effect of peoples’ health and reduces the mortality of incidents of diabetes or disease and it just makes for a great opportunity to create healthy lifestyle and great opportunity to get people downtown.”

The city of Brownsville will also host a “Walk Your Dog” event to create health education opportunities and parks awareness by giving residents the chance to work with physicians and veterinarians to write prescriptions for physical activity at Brownsville parks. The booth will be available from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
