South Texas College’s Culinary Arts Program kicks off a five day food competition that aims to showcase the skills of future chefs in the Rio Grande Valley.
Culinary Wars is a weeklong culinary arts competition beginning on Monday Nov. 7 and lasting through Friday Nov. 11. The event features Culinary Arts students competing against one another in pressure situations.
The event begins with the Pastry Competition in the STC cafeteria on Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. Winners will be announced at 12 p.m.
The Cake Decorating Competition will be held on Nov. 8, and will be presented at 2 p.m. at the STC cafeteria. The Iron Chef Competition will take place on Nov. 9. The secret ingredient for the competition will announced at 9 a.m., and the winner will be announced at 11 a.m.
Culinary Wars “Chopped” competition will be held on Nov. 10, and the competition will end on Nov. 11 with the “Perfect Bite” competition in the Courtyard. During the Perfect Bite Competition, student products are served to STC students, faculty, staff and the general public. Attendees will then fill out ballots for their favorite food booth.
All Culinary Wars events are held at STC’s Pecan Campus.
