UPDATE: Crews put out fire at Mission landfill overnight

MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Firefighters worked to extinguish a brushfire in Mission Sunday.

The fire occurred on the south side of the City of Mission Sanitation Department and was put out late Sunday night.

Fire officials said the wind was blowing the smoke westward and away from the Rio Grande Valley Humane Society Shelter.

Authorities have not disclosed what caused the fire. Fire Prevention Bureau is investigating the case.
