WESLACO, Texas (KVEO) — As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic thousands of people are looking for jobs state-wide, however temporary and permanent jobs are increasing across the Rio Grande Valley.
Majority of the job positions require diverse backgrounds from customer service to expert health care experience. Online, it is easy to spot positions under titles such as COVID-19 response nurse or COVID-19 logistic operator.
Texas Workforce Solutions officials say job seekers will also come across hundreds of jobs in other high demand industries including agriculture and telecommunications.
“A lot of these roles are related to for example taking temperature at the door or assisting with deliveries or a little more specific in the health care industry… we are trying to figure out where the hot spots are in the RGV, as far as where COVID is spreading,” said Texas Workforce Solutions Communications Coordinator, Mike Gonzalez.
Workforce representatives say many of the available jobs are ideal for those who were furloughed or those awaiting full-time recruitment at a former place of employment.
There are currently more than 100 temporary and more than 500 other category industry jobs open for application submissions.
