COVID-19 pandemic postpones congressman’s Vietnam War Veteran Pinning Ceremony

Local News

MCALLEN, Texas – The Office of Congressman Vicente Gonzalez announced the postponement of the Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Lapel Pinning Ceremony. The congressman’s press release said the event was to take place on Sunday, April 19. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic it will be rescheduled.

“Many Vietnam War veterans are in the demographic that is most susceptible to COVID-19. I am postponing the Vietnam War Commemoration Ceremony until medical professionals deem that it is safe to congregate in large numbers,” said Congressman Gonzalez.

The release added that Congressman Gonzalez intends to still honor Vietnam War veterans as soon as medical professionals indicate that it is safe to congregate together as a community.
