County-wide curfew in effect

HIDALGO, Texas – In a virtual press conference, County Judge Richard Cortez signing a curfew order for residents from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra said law enforcement will be out patrolling the community and for those violating the order, Guerra said they are only issuing warnings Monday night.

Health officials said it is crucial to obey this order.

“If you have symptoms you absolutely have to isolate. If you don’t have symptoms, you have to absolutely isolate. This is why this has been put in place.”

After Monday night, if you are not out on the road for essential travel, residents could face up to a $1,000 fine or 180 days in county jail.
