Hidalgo County will soon be hiring temporary positions to assist in flood relief.
The commissioners court approved $500,000 towards the creation of new jobs for Precinct 1. The positions include truck drivers, maintenance and equipment operators. They will work in the hardest hit flood areas. Hidalgo County Commissioner Precinct 1 David Fuentes says there’s a lot of work to be done.
“We have a lot of response that we have to give. These temporary employees will allow us to go out there and assist with picking up the debris from people’s homes. Picking up what has been left behind in the aftermath, as far as drainage ditches. We’ll be able to do a complete clean-up of our area.”
