BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Cameron County leaders now issuing a countywide shelter-in-place order for the next two weeks as the latest effort to combat the COVID-19 virus.

Beginning midnight on March 25, Cameron County residents are asked to remain at home on lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19. County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr. is asking certain non-essential businesses to cease operations, including limiting residents to only essential travel.

“You will be allowed to continue to go to the supermarket to get supplies that you need in order to take care of yourself and your family. If you need to get to the doctor, to the hospital, to the pharmacy, that will obviously continue.”

Local 23 will have a full report at 10pm.
