Convicted of Sex Crimes On Children, Harlingen Man Sentenced to 25 Years

Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz confirms Harlingen native, Eric Sanchez De La Garza, 38, was sentenced Monday for sexually abusing three different children over the span of several years. De La Garza pled guilty in the 445th District Court to multiple counts of child sexual abuse. “De La Garza was sentenced to 25 years for two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and 20 years for one count of Indecency with a Child by Contact.” writes District Attorney Saenz on his facebook page. De La Garza is also sentenced to 8 years for violating the terms of his probation for one count of Indecency with a Child by Exposure.

Saenz shared details about the case, “The information about the abuse first came to light when one of the victims made an outcry during a therapy session. Shortly thereafter, the second victim, who is related to the first, told his grandmother that the defendant had also abused him over a period of years. A third victim, who is related to the defendant but not the other victims, spoke up during a CPS investigation of an unrelated matter.”

The sentences will run concurrently.
