Controversial artwork at local high school causing concern among parents

EDINBURG, Texas – A controversial artwork inside Edinburg High School causing concern among parents.

In a picture sent to Local 23 News, one of the classrooms doors is covered in a drawing of a dead girl hanging herself with a rope around her neck along with the quote “It’s a proper morning to fly into hell.” Some parents now accusing the school of promoting suicide.

Edinburg CISD tells Local 23 News that students were reading the play version of The Crucible. The story is of the Salem Witch Trials in 1692 where people accused of being witches were executed. Students decorated the door portraying a scene and quote from the play as part of a class project. The school assures the painting has now been removed.
