Contractors Fired Upon Across Mexican Riverbank

Authorities confirm that workers along the River bank near Roma were fired upon. 

Local law enforcement and the Border Patrol’s Riverine Unit responded to the area near FM 615 and Fronton South of Roma.

Authorities tell Newscenter 23, suspects on the Mexican riverbank shot at contractors hired by the State of Texas to eradicate Carrizo Cane along the Rio Grande. 

BP safely removed the contractors from the area.

Luckily, no injuries were reported.

The department of public safety is now investigating.
