Local News

Two formerly conjoined twins from the Valley have been released from a Corpus Christi hospital five week after their separation surgery.

Ximena and Scarlett Hernandez-Torres of Brownsville were released this morning from Driscoll Children’s Center after a stay in the hospital.

They had separation surgery on April 12th.

Born in May of 2015– Ximena and Scarlett were fused below the waist, they shared a colon and bladders. Their identical sister–Catalina–was born without serious health issues.

A team of Driscoll Children’s Hospital Specialists assisted in the 12-hour operation, and the two girls will stay with their parents at the Ronald Mcdonald House in Corpus Christi before returning to the rest of the family in Brownsville.

The triplets celebrated their first birthday Monday.
