For the third consecutive day, federal and state law makers took a tour through several South Texas Independent School District campuses.
Congressman Ruben Hinojosa made a stop at Med High in Mercedes to meet some of the students and see how the magnet school system he help start in the valley has grown. During his visit, students also made presentations of the programs they have been involved that have provided hands on training to them.
Congressman Hinojosa said, “This is unbelievable. This is way beyond the expectations, that I had as the founder of these schools in 1985. The opportunities are out there, and the numbers that will be hired, is as big as we can graduate with this quality of education.”
Hinojosa also added, that with the new med school at UTRGV, students who come out of these magnet schools will have more opportunities to stay and work in the valley.
