WASHINGTON – The Office of Congressman Vicente Gonzalez announced that H.R. 6800, House Democrats’ newly introduced stimulus package entitled The Heroes Act would provide about $1,230,765,515 in federal COVID-19 relief funding to cities and counties throughout the 15th District of Texas.
The press release said the funds can be used for COVID-19 related expenses, to replace foregone revenues not projected on January 31, 2020, or to respond to negative economic effects of COVID. Funds would be available until expended, providing flexibility over the next several years.
These funds help those cities and counties with less than 500,000 residents who did not meet the population threshold set by the Department of Treasury in the CARES Act.
This legislation will provide immediate relief to local governments incurring new and unforeseen costs and experiencing revenue losses due to the pandemic regardless of size, said the press release.
