Combes police seize more than $200 thousand during traffic stop

COMBES, Texas — The Combes Police Department seized a large sum of money after conducting a traffic stop on Wednesday morning.

According to a press release, Combes police officers pulled over a Dodge pickup truck on Southbound U.S. 77 in Combes on Wednesday for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, police identified Carlos Ibarra, 34, as the driver.

According to police, Ibarra’s nervous demeanor and inconsistent responses prompted police to search his vehicle.

During the search, police discovered $246,077 in U.S. currency concealed throughout the vehicle.

The Combes Police Department seized the money and questioned Ibarra about where it came from.

However, Ibarra refused to cooperate with investigators, said the release.

The case remains under investigation.
