One area in the Valley is continuing to recover after flooding in June 2019. However, a drainage project is underway to help alleviate future flooding.
According to Palm Valley Mayor George Rivera, almost 80% of homes in the city were flooded with some streets with four to five feet of water.
Rivera said that some residents in the city are still in reconstruction due to the flooding.
“People were displaced, some people are still not in their home, that is unacceptable. Preventing property loss is my number one priority and is something we’re going to have to look at very closely and get it fixed as quickly as possible.
The project started just before the Christmas holiday and the construction for the first phase of the project would be completed in about another month.
