The City of McAllen celebrated the renovation of the Travis Tennis Court on Tuesday.

Several city commissioners along with McAllen Mayor Jim Darling attended the unveiling ceremony.

“Well, this is about winning,” Darling told McAllen Independent School District’s YouTube channel. “This is a winning partnership between the school district and the city as we’ve always done and then the big wins for the students that get a better facility and our adults and citizens will want to come over here and play, so it’s a win all-around. It’s really satisfying to be able to do this. And the bottom line is, everyone is going to get some good exercise, so it can’t get any better than that.”

According to a release, the project included resurfacing the courts, adding additional shade structure, windscreens, landscaping, installing a single stall bathroom, constructing entryways from the parking lot to court area, and sealing, coating, and striping the parking lot.
