A $400,000 grant is making it easier for technology students to continue their education at South Texas College.
The grant from the city of McAllen will be used toward customized training for McAllen manufacturing companies.
This involves over 300 courses that have been tailored for the needs of local industry. STC officials say this is a partnership that’s continued for the last 15 years.
Carlos Margo, STC Dean of Industry Training said, “The impact is significant because of the fact that a lot of our training results in wage increases for a lot of these McAllen companies and for their employees. These wage increases obviously translate to economic benefits here locally.”
The grant will also be used to purchase new software licenses and supplies for their training program.
