City of Harlingen and Food Bank RGV announce food distribution

Harlingen (Texas)– The City of Harlingen and the Food Bank RGV have partnered to distribute food to the community.

“We know many in our community are without adequate food as many are without jobs or their businesses have been required to close. The City of Harlingen stands ready to support the Food Bank’s operations as well as others to help with this shortage and crisis.” said Mayor Chris Boswell.

They will hold three food distributions at the Harlingen Soccer Complex located at 4515 East Harrison. The distribution will be drive-through only.

The schedule will be:

April 22, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

April 29, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

May 1, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Due to the shelter in place order, only two people per vehicle will be allowed and they must wear a face covering.

People will not be allowed to get off their vehicle and volunteers will place the foods in the and trunk. No food will be placed inside the vehicle.
