A City of Brownsville maintenance employee assigned to the Brownsville Police Department was arrested on a possession of cocaine charge Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from the Cameron County District Attorney.
Manuel Ibarra Jr. was arrested while driving a marked city of Brownsville maintenance truck pulling city equipment on a trailer on Thursday.
A multi-agency sting operation led to the discovery of four kilograms of cocaine within the city truck, according to the news release.
Ibarra was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. He was transported to the Cameron County jail where he will await arraignment.
The operation was conducted by multiple agencies including the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Brownsville Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
