HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas — The Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office has dropped a case that charged a man for killing his father in 2018.

On Wednesday, Hidalgo County District Attorney Richard Rodriguez requested the dismissal of the court case in the interest of justice.

The presiding judge in the 139th state District Court agreed with the dismissal, and Joseph Nocar is cleared of any wrongdoing.

Nocar, 40, was arrested in December 2018 and accused of killing his father.

On October 24, 2018, authorities located Fredrick Josef Nocar, 76, dead in a pool of blood at his residence in Weslaco.

A witness stated that Nocar admitted to them that he committed the murder.

Investigators identified Nocar as the suspect due to his long criminal history, which includes three assault charges.
