Chamber of commerce ambassadors raise money for local non-profits

Local News

MCALLEN, Texas – Two well-deserving non-profit organizations in the Valley are the first to receive donations from the McAllen Chamber of Commerce ambassadors.

The ambassadors serve the McAllen chamber in fostering economic growth
and in early 2019, decided to expand their responsibilities and create
a “Brag Donation Fund.”

Anytime a member discussed a work-related or personal achievement they contribute to the fund. Once it hit $500, the ambassadors selected Capable Kids and the South Texas Juvenile Diabetes Association to award.

Steve Urbina, Vice-Chair McAllen Chamber of Commerce, “Be the support team. Let them know they aren’t alone and there’s someone in their community that cares about them.”

Ashley Castillo, Chair – McAllen Chamber of Commerce, “We could all do one thing more to serve others in the community and make our community stronger.”

The ambassadors are all volunteers and the McAllen Chamber matched their donations so each organization received $500.
