BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Local veterans gathered to remember those Brownsville residents who died in the Vietnam War. It’s part of an annual tradition held at Hanna Early College High School. It is meant to remember those that paid the ultimate sacrifice. Today 28 Brownsville residents are remembered with a special ceremony. A 21 gun salute and a commemorateve wreath.

Tony Garcia, Warriors United in Arms, This is not taught in local history of the United States here. Brownsville paid a very high price during the Vietnam War. We lost 27 men and one missing in action.

Pablo Villarreal Jr., American Legion Post 43, These guys were from Brownsville. They went to this school or the other school. It’s a great honor to come and honor them today.

This is the third time the event is hosted by the Warriors United in Arms.
