MCALLEN, Texas – For the first time, U.S. Citizens are now able to respond to the census online and over the phone.
The city of McAllen is stepping into the movement by adding 10 tablets across the city. The tablets will be available in community centers like the library, bus station, airport and city hall. The new system allows citizens to answer the same nine questions they would receive in a paper form, but officials say this new method speeds up the process.
Xochitl Mora, Communications Director – City of McAllen, “So, you’ll go through that really quickly and then it’s done. As opposed to having to wait for the paper forms to come in, fill it out, and drop it back in the mail. We want to encourage everyone to do their response online or over the phone now so that it can already be out of the way and done.”
Specialists will be on hand at various locations to assist.
